Worship the Way It’s Been for Generations

Worship at St. John is traditional and heartfelt — the liturgy, beloved hymns, scripture, and a sermon rooted in God’s Word, offered beneath century-old stained glass. Holy Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of each month at both churches.

Come as you are. Whether you grew up Lutheran, are returning to church after years away, or are simply curious, you’ll find a pew and a warm Texas welcome waiting for you.

“Jesus is the Light” — Vacation Bible School program, June 2026

Raising Up the Next Generation

Our church family loves its young people. This summer’s “Jesus is the Light” Vacation Bible School filled the sanctuary with songs, crafts, and candlelight as our kids shared what they learned with the whole congregation.

From VBS week to camp send-offs — where the congregation gathers around our campers with prayer and blessing — children aren’t just welcome at St. John; they’re celebrated.

Pastor Jan R. Putnam serves both congregations of St. John Lutheran Church, preaching the Gospel each Sunday at Lindenau and Westhoff and shepherding one ministry across two historic churches.
